The Talisker Magma 47-Year-Old is an exceptionally rare, ultra-aged single malt Scotch whisky from the Isle of Skye. Released in April 2026, it represents one of the distillery’s most limited productions to date.
Here is what makes it unique:
Innovative "Volcanic" Finishing: After maturing for nearly half a century in refill American oak, the whisky was finished for four months in casks toasted using a unique method. Instead of direct flames, local volcanic rocks were heated and used to toast the wood, a process designed to impart deep complexity and fruitiness without the bitterness of traditional charring.
Flavor Profile: It is described as having a silky mouthfeel with layers of rich fruit, smoke, and spice. It retains Talisker’s signature maritime character and "chili pepper" heat, finishing with notes of Sichuan peppercorn and minerals.
Artisanal Presentation: The bottle is crafted from 100% recycled glass with a gradient color scheme echoing deep-sea water and molten lava. It is topped with a handcrafted stopper inspired by obsidian (volcanic glass).
Availability: Due to its 47-year age statement and experimental crafting method, it is a highly sought-after collector's piece with very limited global availability.
